Focus Counselling Services is a Hull based company established in 1997, since then the company has expanded to offer our clients a comprehensive range of counselling services.

Today our clients include both the public and private sector (including large NHS and Local Authority organisations) and nearly 20,000 employees have access to our services on a daily basis.

Focus Counselling Services and The University of Hull are working in partnership to offer the following four day, certificated, training and personal development courses.

Introduction to Gestalt Counselling
With Tracy Dent-Brown (Gestalt Psychotherapist)

This course would suit counselling practitioners, interested learners and people in helping positions.
During this course we will explore some of the key aspects of Gestalt theory, including awareness, process and dialogue. The course will also have an experiential component where learners have the opportunity to develop skills, awareness and knowledge from participating in class based exercises.
25th October, 15th November, 22nd November, 13th December (10.00am - 3.30pm)

Introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
With Marie Acton (CBT Psychotherapist)

Upon completion of this course learners will understand the key features of CBT. This will include client suitability for CBT and how to work with anxiety and depression.
Learners will have the opportunity to experiment with the CBT style of counselling by working in small groups. They will also learn how to integrate it into their current model of helping.

Introduction to Person Centred Counselling
With Graham Fisher

An in depth exploration of The Person Centred Approach, including Rogers’ 6 Conditions for Therapeutic Movement, 19 Propositions of Person Centred Psychology and The 7 Stages of Human Growth.
There will be an emphasis on the refinement of Person Centred practice.
It would be useful for participants to have some experience of working within trio groups.

Course Fees and Location

All courses will take place at The Focus Centre, Kingston Square, Hull.
Individual circumstances determine the fee payable for each course. Fees are as follows:
